AARC 2014-15 Nominations and Elections

The Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC) is now soliciting nominations for members of the executive committee (terms beginning July, 2015). Nominations will be open until May 23, 2014. Once nominations are received, the current executive committee reviews the candidates and determines a final slate. Three positions are currently open for nominations:


Selected key responsibilities include the following: exert leadership in the achievement of the purposes of AARC; preside at the Business Meetings of AARC, of the Executive Council, and of the Executive Committee; serve in a clearing capacity for internal organizational questions, concerns and suggestions; closely with the Treasurer in the preparation and administration of the budget and expenditures; coordinate activities of editors and committees; appoint the members of AARC committees and Editors of MECD, CORE and NewsNotes as relevant; receive and direct ACA reports, memos, and inquiries; serve as liaison between AARC officers and committees and the ACA headquarters staff; seek AARC's involvement in national efforts related to measurement and evaluation in counseling and development; attend meetings of ACA Division Presidents; and participate with members in the creation of, and support of, appropriate new ways of advancing the purposes of AARC through activities and services. The elected individual will serve as President-Elect (2015-16), President (2016-17) and Past-President (2017-18), beginning July 1, 2015.



Selected key responsibilities include the following: review and approve requests for disbursements which have been authorized by the Executive Council; present reports of the financial status of AARC to the Executive Council and to the AARC membership at the Business Meeting; recommend limitations for individual budget categories; prepare, duplicate, and distribute the budget; present a recommended budget to the Executive Council for review and approval; recommend changes in budget procedures for AARC and ACA; report to the Executive Committee and/or Executive Council regarding unexpected budgetary problems; maintain the financial record of AARC in permanent record form; work closely with the President in preparing an annual financial report of the Association's status, subject to audit by the proper persons; maintain a current balance for each budget item of the Association's activities; file the proposed budget which has been approved by the Executive Council with ACA; work with the Executive Committee to determine possible sources of income; and forward AARC, minutes and appropriate documentation to the ACA Accounting Office when requested. The elected individual will serve as Treasurer for a 2-year term beginning July 1, 2015.


Member-at-Large for Awards

Selected key responsibilities include serving as a member of the Executive Council; participating at the request of the President in AARC activities related to the functions of the AARC Executive Council which are not included in the duties of other officers of AARC; serve as liaison to committees and other ACA divisions, as assigned by the President; provide appropriate materials for  NEWSNOTES, Counseling Today, and the AARC website; coordinate awards activities of AARC, including chairing the Awards Committee; prepare announcements requesting nominations for awards; prepare nominations for ACA awards at the direction of AARC Executive Council; and prepare Exemplary Practices Award and student Research Grant Award for presentation at the annual meeting at the direction of the AARC Executive Council. The elected individual will serve a 3-year term from July 1, 2015.
